On overhead
The ten percent is not the waste. It is the seatbelt.
The pressure on nonprofits to report ever-lower overhead has produced a decade of organizations that cannot afford an accountant, a safety officer, or a functioning database — and that pass the cost of that thinness on to the animals in their care.
Our operations line pays for the systems that make the other ninety percent trustworthy: a case management system with a record for every dog, insurance that lets volunteers drive transport runs, and the audit that verifies all of it.
We would rather defend that number honestly than quietly move it into a program category, which is a common and entirely legal way to make a chart look better.

Our annual Form 990, audited financial statements, board roster, conflict-of-interest policy, and program outcome report are all available on request, and we send them without asking why you want them.
If a figure on this site does not reconcile with a figure in those documents, we want to hear about it. Write to us and we will correct the site or explain the difference.
